Case study How St-Hubert Migrated Its Services to Edwin Without Disrupting Users Publication date September 09, 2026 When its servers needed to be replaced, St-Hubert migrated its services to Edwin with support from R2i. The transition was so seamless that users did not even realize it had taken place. When St-Hubert’s servers reached the end of their lifecycle, the company needed to modernize its technology environment without disrupting operations. For an organization whose activities depend on systems that must remain available and functional at all times, an infrastructure migration cannot be improvised. It must be carefully planned, executed without errors and supported by a team capable of responding quickly. St-Hubert chose to migrate its services to Edwin, R2i’s sovereign Canadian cloud. More than three years after the transition, the results are clear: a migration completed with no noticeable impact on users and a stable environment the organization can depend on. Servers Reaching the End of Their Lifecycle The project began with a straightforward observation: St-Hubert’s servers were aging and needed to be replaced. “Our servers were getting older. We had reached the point where they really needed to be replaced.” Rather than simply replacing its existing hardware, St-Hubert used this opportunity to reassess its environment and migrate some of its services to Edwin. This type of transition allows an organization to modernize its infrastructure while reducing the day-to-day management associated with physical servers. However, the project’s success largely depends on migration planning and coordination between the teams involved. A Carefully Planned Migration Before the transition, St-Hubert informed its users that services would be migrated during a scheduled maintenance period. The communication was sent in advance so that teams would know what to expect and could prepare for potential disruptions. Thanks to careful planning and support from R2i’s experts, the migration was much easier than anticipated. “It was a very easy and straightforward migration. Everything went smoothly, without any issues. We truly felt that the R2i team was behind us and there to support us.” The migration was completed as planned, without errors and with no noticeable impact on users. A Transition Users Did Not Even Notice The best indicator of the migration’s success was likely the reaction from St-Hubert’s users. After the transition, some contacted the IT team because they believed the migration had not yet taken place. Since they had not experienced any changes or interruptions, they assumed the project had been postponed. “I received calls from users asking whether the migration would be completed at a later date. I told them, ‘No, it’s already done.’” For Maxime Gascon, Director of Infrastructure and IT Support at St-Hubert, this reaction confirmed the project’s success. “It was a tremendous success.” When a technology migration is properly planned and executed, it should go largely unnoticed by users. Systems continue to operate, employees carry on with their work and the organization benefits from its new infrastructure without experiencing the disruptions often associated with this type of project. More Than Three Years of Stability With Edwin The success of a migration is not measured only during the transition. It must also stand the test of time. More than three years after migrating to Edwin, St-Hubert has not experienced any major system outages attributable to the platform. “For more than three years now, we have not had any major system outages caused by Edwin.” This stability allows St-Hubert’s IT teams to focus on their priorities rather than managing infrastructure-related incidents. Edwin’s environments are designed to deliver performance, availability and resilience. The infrastructure is supported by R2i’s teams, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to monitor environments and respond when needed. Data Hosted in Canada and Quebec Data location was another important consideration for St-Hubert. “Having our data in Canada, and in Quebec specifically, is very important to us and aligns with our needs.” Edwin is a sovereign cloud owned by a Canadian company. Data is hosted, operated and managed in Canada by R2i’s teams. This approach gives organizations greater control over their environments and the jurisdiction governing their data. It also allows them to work directly with a local team that understands the technology and regulatory realities facing Canadian businesses. A Stable Infrastructure That Helps Deliver Happiness For more than 70 years, St-Hubert’s mission has been to “deliver happiness.” Behind that promise is an organization that must be able to rely on dependable and continuously available technology systems. “To deliver happiness, we need to be able to rely on environments that are stable and functional at all times.” For St-Hubert, Edwin directly contributes to that stability. “Edwin gives us the peace of mind we need and helps us deliver happiness.” The technology remains in the background, exactly where it should be. It supports operations without slowing them down and allows teams to focus on their true mission. Edwin Do You Need to Replace Aging Infrastructure?
