Once the incident is contained, the Disaster Recovery Plan allows the restoration of systems from backups whose integrity has been verified, and the implementation of measures to prevent future attacks. R2i can prepare these plans for your company. Edwin respects the highest standards of robustness and site redundancy. The data is hosted in Canada, which protects it from the CLOUD Act.

Edwin respecte les plus hauts standards de robustesse, et la redondance des sites. Les données sont hébergées au Canada, ce qui les protège du CLOUD Act.

Migration of IBM I environments to Edwin, the R2i Cloud

A leading manufacturer, a converter and marketer of packaging and paper products, is looking to migrate its on-premises IBM i environments to the Cloud.
The environment is replicated in software in the R2i Cloud.

The company is not able to manage the decline of the platform, which comprises 2 servers at the end of their life, with 25 partitions distributed in 2 data centers, and supporting manufacturing operations, payroll, and maintenance.

Difficulty recruiting and retaining qualified personnel on the platform is causing a growing risk over time.

The current data center management model is not appropriate for their agility and performance requirements and does not align with the needs of the organization.

Solutions offered by R2i

To better focus on value-added activities and allocate resources accordingly, the company decides to migrate to Edwin, the R2i public cloud, taking advantage of our Power – IBM i expertise.

Here are the key steps of this eight-month migration, from establishing the migration prerequisites to migrating the very last partitions to Edwin.

Assessment and planning : R2i carries out a comprehensive assessment of the existing infrastructure and develops a detailed migration plan, including environment upgrades.

Setting up prerequisites before migration

Application migration : R2i migrates critical applications to Edwin using advanced migration tools and proven methodologies. A first development partition is migrated. We extensively validate its operation (network latency, performance, interaction with R2i operating staff, etc.). Then we migrate the remaining development partitions and finally the production partitions.
